Offering more total park acres than any other community in the state, Fort Dodge offers a broad array of recreational activities. Fort Dodge supports 32 parks which offer everything from fishing and hiking to swimming and biking.The most popular park is Snell-Crawford.Known for it easy accessibility, and attractiveness, the park includes a 2.9 mile low maintenance trail that highlights wildlife settings and habitat along Soldier Creek. The park also has a large cabin that can be used for community and family gatherings, a Frisbee golf course, and sand volleyball courts.

The Soldier Creek Nature Trail is a one-mile trail from Williams Drive at Snell-Crawford Park to the Third Street Bridge. A 10-foot wide asphalt trail accommodates walkers and bikers alike. Oleson Park includes a petting zoo with a variety of young and small animals and a zoo of larger animals. It is also home to the City’s wading pool and has cabins available for community and family gatherings. Located on the south side ofFort Dodge, Oleson Park is a favorite among young families. During the summer months, theKarl King Municipal Band holds Sunday evening concerts at the Oleson Park Band Shell.Armstrong Park offers an ideal spot for fishing during the spring and summer months and during the winter months provides a great opportunity for ice-skating.
