Areas of the skin damaged by exposure to the sun and other factors can be observed by using an instrument called a DermaScan. The DermaScan uses UV light to detect areas of damage. The examiner points out areas of the skin possibly damaged by exposure to the sun and discusses with the participant ways of preventing further damage. This is NOT a screen for skin cancer. The DermaScan is used primarily for educational purposes.
The DermaScan is most often made available to the community at health fairs and educational presentations.
