Stop Smoking Programs

YOU WANT TO QUIT SMOKING BUT YOU NEED SOME HELP. . .

Trinity Health Partners and The American Lung Association of Iowa offer the following stop smoking programs:

FREEDOM FROM SMOKING CLINICS

The next 8-week clinic will run from September 5th through October 24th, 2000. The clinic will meet on Tuesdays, from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM, in the Home Health Conference Room at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

The first session of the clinic (September 5th) is a free informational meeting for anyone seriously interested in stopping smoking. The next two weeks are designed to help the smokers prepare to quit. During the fourth week (September 26th), all smokers throw away their cigarettes and begin their lives as ex-smokers. For the remaining four weeks of the program, the ex-smokers continue to meet to give each other support in continuing their newly chosen lifestyle. The emphasis in the clinic is on long-term freedom from smoking. Health professionals from the hospital teach the latest techniques for stress management, weight control and exercise - skills to help ex-smokers succeed. A pharmacist discusses nicotine replacement therapies and provides the pros and cons of each. The clinic meets weekly for 8 weeks and the cost is $60. Freedom From Smoking clinics are offered 3 times a year.

FREEDOM FROM SMOKING FOR YOU & YOUR BABY
An individually-designed stop smoking program for pregnant women. Includes one-on-one counseling and follow-up after birth. Cost is $25.
