Program/Service Notes:
An intermediate care facility for adults with mental retardation located in a residential neighborhood. Three spacious 10-bedroom homes provide a personalized family-like environment for men and women. At Northwoods Living, adults with developmentally disabilities are provided with a variety of opportunities to develop skills necessary to achieve independence. The structure is based upon the principles of active treatment. Consumers are challenged to take responsibility for their personal hygiene, meal preparation, and domestic skills. Therapeutic consultants include, speech, occupational, physical therapy, psychologist, and psychiatrist. MISSION STATEMENT: To facilitate partnerships with consumers to be successful and satisfied while learning, living, working, and socializing in the environments of their choice. Northwoods Living is a United Way agency partner.
