Program/Service Notes:
R.E.A.D. (Reading Enhancement and Arts Discovery) is a program that assists children with literacy and cultural exploration through multicultural literature and accompanying arts & crafts. Children learn to enjoy and appreciate books while at the same time learning tolerance for other cultures. The R.E.A.D. program explores a different culture every month through stories, ethnic cooking, music and dance. Children also create related crafts; ie, pinatas for Mexico and batik cloth from India. Reading is stressed as a fun activity. We also play games, create models, act out stories and traditions from the featured culture.
