The Blanden Memorial Art Museum, located in the Oak Hill Historic District of Fort Dodge, was built in 1932 and is Iowa's first fine arts museum. An outstanding collection of 21 Century Art, Asian art, prints, and excellent temporary exhibitions make the museum valued and unique. The Museum offers art programs, and arts education classes for all ages. Reaching out to the north central Iowa region, the Museum attracts enthusiastic audiences for its programs and visual arts shows. Most events are free and open to the public; there is a nominal charge for some special programs. The Blanden has a wonderful gift shop, featuring works by many Iowa artists.
