Program/Service Notes:
Not all babies and toddlers do the same things at the same ages. The period from birth through two years of age is critical. This is often the best age to begin intervention if your child is experiencing some delays in development. Services are family centered and offered year round until the eligible child reaches the age of three. Early ACCESS for eligible children and their families include: multidisciplinary evaluation and assessment completed by a variety of professionals, service coordination, and a written individualized family service plan (IFSP). The IFSP can draw upon any of the following services and professionals: assistive technology; audiology; communication; family training; health services; medical diagnosis and evaluation; nursing; nutrition; occupational therapy; physical theraphy; social work; special instruction (home teachers); transportation; and vision services. Early ACCESS for children and families is a cooperative system between the Iowa Department of Education (Area Education Agencies), the Iowa Department of Human Services, the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Child Health Specialty Clinics plus many provide providers and programs.
