Program/Service Notes:
Girl Scouting is an informal education program designed to serve girls grades kindergarten through 12th grade. Girl Scout programs are, for the most part, through groups called troops organized by local volunteers, serving approximately 10 girls of similar age. In addition to "troop activities", approximately 40 program events are held annually that focus on a variety of topics including the arts, science, technology, wellness, and environmental education. Girl Scout programs are also developed in special interest groups through school classrooms or topics of interest such as dance, music or theater and through several outreach programs reaching girls with special needs. The council also maintains a 175-acre camp near Dayton for troop and resident camp activities such as horseback riding, swimming, hiking, and camping.
