The Child Support Recovery Unit will assist families in need of support from a parent who is absent from the home. The Fort Dodge office will assist individuals living in the counties of Calhoun, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster, and Wright.
Referrals are automated for those individuals currently receiving FIP or medical benefits from the Department of Human Services. Individuals not currently receiving assistance may apply by completing an application form. Contact any child support office for an application form. The application form provides the addresses of all Iowa offices and the counties that each serves.
Services include establishment of paternity, entry of an order for payment of child support, monitoring and enforcement of child support obligations. The agency can also review the obligation every two years and enter adjustments to the child support obligation. Assistance can also be given to end the obligation when children's custody changes or when parents of the children reconcile.
