HOURS: Downtown: Winter (Oct-April) M-F 5AM-9:30PM, SAT 7AM-5 PM, SUN 12PM -5PM Summer (May-Sept) M-F 5AM - 8:30 PM, SAT 7AM - 5PM, SUN CLOSED HOURS: Iowa Central Location: M-TH 5AM - 9:30PM, FRI 5AM - 8PM, SAT 8AM-2PM, SUN 8AM-10AM & 3PM-7PM Water Babies-A parent-child program for children 9 months to 3 years of age. This class helps children get used to the water while a parent is there to help. Instructors help the parents teach their children to enjoy the water and have fun. PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS: This program is designed for 3-5 year olds. Children learn swimming skills, water adjustment skills and water safety skills. Pike-This is the beginning level for preschool lessons. The class is an introduction to water and swim skills for those who are uncomfortable in the water. Emphasis in this class will be on water adjustment, kicking with barbells and introduction to the beginner stroke. Eel-This is the second level in the preschool program. These children should be able to front and back float, kick unassisted with barbells and do the beginner stroke for 5-10 feet. Children continue to work on these skills as well as back sculling and increasing their swimming abilities. Ray-This is the third level in the preschool program. Children will have advanced to a level where they feel very comfortable in the water. Emphasis is on stroke technique, endurance, and introduction to new skills. Children should be able to swim 20-30 feet before attempting this level. PROGRESSIVE SWIM LESSONS: The program is designed for participants 6 years of age and up. Each level is divided in to five components: personal safety, stroke development, water games, personal growth and rescue. Polliwog I-This class is for those 6 years of age and older who are beginners. Children will work on water adjustment, lifesaving skills, personal safety, floats and beginner strokes. Polliwog II-This class is for children who are comfortable in the water and can swim 1/2 length of the pool front and back. Introduction to rotary breathing, treading water and lifesaving skills. Guppy-This class is for children who can swim the length of the pool on front and back. Emphasis is on learning the front crawl using rotary breathing and back sculling. Minnow-This class is for children who have completed Guppy and/or can swim the length of the pool using the crawl with rotary breathing. Emphasis is on learning the back crawl, and the elementary backstroke with the whip kick. Fish-This class is for children who can swim one length each of the front crawl and back crawl. Emphasis is on endurance work. The breaststroke will be introduced along with stroke technique on all other strokes. Fish Plus-This level is a combined level of Fish, Flying Fish and Shark classes. Emphasis will be on endurance, stroke technique, and learning the breaststroke, butterfly and side stroke.
