Habitat builds homes for people currently living in substandard housing and who are generally unable to get home loans from lending institutions. Qualified families work on the home, along with volunteers, and then purchase the home at no interest. There are general income guidelines; ie, families must have adequate income to afford mortgage payments but income cannot be too high. Potential families may write Habitat at the above address or use brochures available locally. The applicants go through a selection process including application and interview.
