WHO CAN BE A CENTER USER?: The Fort Dodge Area Senior Citizen's Center focuses on support for the senior population of our community. We are a facility where older persons come together, either individually or in groups, for services and activities which encourage involvement in and with the community, while supporting their independence. PARTICIPANTS MAY INCLUDE... *Fort Dodge Area residents who are 55 years and older. *Seniors who are visiting the local area from other communities or states. *Organizations whose services and activities primarily focus on seniors, will be permitted to use the Center if space and maintenance personnel are available. *At times, the public may be allowed to participate in special programs or workshops which are open to the public. ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS: The Senior Center offers year round information and social activities. The coffee is always on, so stop in and chat anytime! ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES may include oil painting, china painting, crochet & knitting classes, computer class, music and exercise. Any requests for special classes and workshops are welcome. SPECIAL INTEREST CLUBS meeting at the Center regularly are the River Valley Woodcarver's Club, a Needlework group, and a Billiards group. There is no charge for these meetings. INFORMATION/HEALTH ACTIVITIES are provided at no charge. Once a month blood pressure checks, blood sugars & cholesterols, nutritional presentations, older driver information, and volunteer coordination. Free tax preparation and free e-filing of taxes. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES are Bingo, Card Bingo, Scrabble, Bridge, Pinochle, 500 card game, "31" card game, Potlucks, and many other activities throughout the month. REGULAR MEETING LOCATION for community organizations which include; Fort Dodge, Duplicate Bridge Club, Disabled American Veterans, and China Painter's Club contact the Center if your group needs a meeting location.
