LIHEAP: Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program is funded through the Iowa Department of Human Rights and has been established to help qualifying low-income Iowa home owners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs. This program is not designed to pay a household's total energy cost and is subject to Federal funding. The assistance is based on household income, household size, type of fuel and other factors. Applicants need to furnish social security numbers for the family, copy of a recent heating and electric bill and proof of the household's gross income for the past three months or for the past calendar year. Appointments are taken November 1 - April 15th of each year.
